We realize sometimes pets can find themselves in situations in which healthy food options are not always available. This is why we partner with various organization across the United States to keep dog & cat bowls filled with our nutritious formulas. We also strive to support our neighbors. Our company has deep roots in Ohio, New York & Wisconsin and so we try to remain involved in community efforts and fundraisers in each area and beyond.
Our Commitment to Pets
At Blackwood, we feel strongly no one should ever have to worry about how they are going to feed their pets. For more than forty years, our family-operated company has always prioritized helping neighbors and those in need. Every cat & dog deserves to have a full bowl of food & the opportunity to have a healthier tomorrow. This is why we work with various organizations & shelters across the country. Each year we donate thousands of pounds of food to keep cat & dog bellies full.
Recently, we partnered with our sister brands, Adirondack Pet Food & By Nature Pet Food, to help families in need during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Together, we were able to donate 74,848 pounds of our slow-cooked pet foods to shelters and food banks that were hit the hardest during the pandemic. This donation provided approximately 300,000 meals to hungry pets in the United States.
Our Commitment to Communities
Our company’s history began as a small feed mill in Rogers, Ohio and blossomed into an international pet food company. We could not have achieved this growth without the love & support from our communities. The loyalty we received over the last 40 years has allowed us to grow into who we are today. We’ll forever be grateful for that love. This is why we place special emphasis on our continued involvement in our communities. From high-school football programs to neighborhood fundraisers, Blackwood takes pride is helping our friends.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability has become an important focus for Blackwood Pet Food. In the last decade, we have seen the growing negative effects of pollution, low rates of recycling and the use of non-renewable packaging. This is why we are heavily examining our own packaging formats, materials and operations to ensure they conform to our newly founded environmental promises. Our team is actively working to renew, reformat and reduce. So, what does this mean?
- Renew: Our Operations & Marketing teams are diligently scouting innovative partners that offer packaging materials crafted from resources that can be renewed for a circular economy
- Reformat: The Marketing & Brand teams are developing new designs that can utilize sustainable materials to replace non-recyclable materials
- Reduce: We are in constant communications about minimizing our packaging to reduce waste while still offering all the products you have come to know & love
Through the collaboration of our team, we’re confident we can achieve our promise to transition to new, sustainable packaging by 2023. Along the way, we’ll continue to research ways to improve additional sustainable strategies, such as efficient use of water & electricity.
