We handcraft Blackwood Pet Food in small batches at our family-operated facility in Ohio because healthy, happy pets make their families happy. That’s why we’re so dedicated to the care and quality that goes into every batch of our dog and cat recipes.

We believe in tradition and taking time to do things right.

Every bag tells our story.

What do 1000, 2000, 3000 and 5000 mean?

In the early days of Blackwood, we named each new dog food we introduced with a number, starting with our original 1000 Everyday Diet recipe. After that came 2000, then 3000, 4000 and 5000. Blackwood 4000 is now our Everyday Lean/Senior Dog recipe. The other numbered dog food recipes are also known by new names.

There has been some confusion over the years, but our number names were never intended to represent a feeding strategy. Don’t know which Blackwood recipe to feed your pet? Give our Recipe Selector a try!

Perfection can’t be rushed.

At the heart of Blackwood’s success is our time-honored commitment of slow cooking. Perfected over the course of more than twenty years of creating premium pet food recipes that are appetizing as well as easy for your pet to digest.

Slow cooked foods can increase pet nutrient uptake, too — which may improve energy, stamina and immune response. The levels of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in Blackwood foods help promote superior skin and coat quality, too.

We guarantee the quality of every bowl.

We’re able to control the quality of Blackwood foods because we make them ourselves — in small batches, using all-natural ingredients sourced from suppliers we know by name.

Perhaps this loyalty to our partners explains why satisfied pet owners are so loyal to our foods. It’s most certainly why we’re willing and able to guarantee the quality of our foods.

If your pet refuses to eat any Blackwood food for any reason, simply get in touch with us. We’ll gladly refund your purchase price.
